Delivery incident: Am I in the wrong?

To me it just sounds like you're overly defensive of the situation and not at all understanding. -He only had 8 on him. This means, per company policy, $15 as starting bank; he gave a previous order 7 dollars, which means he probably had other 20s on him but he couldn't give that to you for obvious reasons. -Following that they had other orders, you're only calculating the travel from the store in distance. It could have been 7 miles, or 8 if it was that busy, as it was Saturday night that you ordered and they had a delivery that ordered first in the opposite direction, so they went there first. -I see you live in Boise, or at least did. I deliver in a town of ~20,000 that ins't as urban as Boise and literally today I got a 15$ cash tip, 14 and change card tip, like five 8$ tips, and many $5 tips and other lesser ones. And per delivery policy if i remember correctly its a 5 mile radius at max for distance. This point here is all to say, on a busy night, it can feel easy to fall into a sort of "flow" mode when driving long distances, where as a driver you just say whats required of you and you don't think too much about taking control of the situation, so you just say, "would you like change". It seems like you got too puffy about that part. -Lastly, Its pretty obvious that him "sighing" and leaving to get change, and then afterwards in your words he was apologetic, he was just frustrated at himself that he left his change in the car due to the previous order, on a busy Saturday night. Overall it just seems like you have some personality built around "HoNoR" and being less than fortunate financially, and expect other people to act with defining edges around the same thing, no matter how drained they are from their job, and any sense of the otherwise gets you upset. I would suggest not looking too deep into interactions as basic as these and getting triggered anyhow. You did nothing wrong in being upset over losing out on 2$, and I'm sure if you had called the store they might have even compensated you by refunding the twists, so like 6$ worth. Not only that, I can see how you might have misread all of the small things that the driver should likely not have displayed to you, but it seems to me that he was: Frustrated with himself about the change thing, was busy with other orders and didn't have the change for that reason, and was just in a flow state and asked about the change because of how busy he was. Yes, he should not have shown emotions as its not that professional, I do get that. I just don't get the over analysis of the whole thing in my opinion, and with it being the second busiest night of any given week, I would just reconsider the whole order of events and re look over how the driver acted in a less negative way and in a more "delivery driver" state of mind, next time. Cheers to you though for actually reaching out to people and actually seeing other's opinion instead of just feeling assured in the "customers always right" attitude, that just leads to frustration on both sides.
