Discussion about this series of illustrations.

Someone posted these redesigns over in /r/girlgamers today (site in some Scandinavian langauge, but the pics speak for themselves). I think they fit the general theme here.

The only one that really works is the Elena rework, but even then for some incoherent reason they gave her breast reduction surgery. I get wrapping them up because, you know, martial arts and floppy flesh doesn't mix, but shrinking them?

Taki doesn't work because they changed her head gear from the oni-thing that's supposed to be intimidating to, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / GI Joe 80's era ninja stuff which works but....its not Taki. This isn't the 80's. Props for actual protective gear over her chest rather than something that accentuates the region though. She's trying to stab you to death, not lust you to death.

Cami's does absolutely nothing for me. Some weird mix up of casual clothing, military clothing, and face paint because reasons.

Morigan's just strikes me as uneducated. She's a succubus. Her purpose to tantalize men and dupe them into giving her their souls. The change is, like Taki's, something that seems to want to bring things back to 80's era cartoons where the villains are all pathetically moronic and are armed with the most frail of excuses.

Poison....I'd drop the jacket and the goofy hat.

Mai's got the same syndrome that Casandra has in the Soul Caliber series where her armor's inexplicably gotten more and more revealing and less and less practical as the releases drag on. I can only assume the artist never played the game, or else they'd know her fan is part of her fighting set.

Felicia is the worst of the set, by far. Granted, her source material isn't exactly practical but I don't think of cats when I look at turtlenecks and glasses.

I-no has more of the same issues- I can only presume the artist has no idea of what the character is supposed to be about, her breasts went on a hike, and what's wrong with her faaaaace?

There's two consistent problems through out this-

1: Breasts aren't sexist.

2: You should probably understand the character before you make art for them.
