[Discussion] Honest Question: If you don't like Destiny, Bungie, or the Devs, why do you still play the game?

I have negative feelings about the game, but it's overall positive. My negative feelings come from what feels like intentional choices too.

Firstly, the good. Destiny is beautiful, the music is awesome, the voice actors are the best gathering of geek icons I could imagine, and the actual fighting is shit hot. They've nailed the hard part. I've loved many games which have tried hard but not quite had the skill to pull it off. I think of the likes of Mass Effect 3, overall I enjoyed Mass Effect more, but gun play / ability / graphics / sound wise, Destiny beats it hands down... I keep saying if they could put Mass Effect's plot and RPG elements into Destiny's engine, I'd never need another game lol.

Then I get to the bad points. Why oh why oh why did they create a game where the best way to play is to run past enemies? No real loot or XP or rep or anything bonus to actually being a hero. The optimum goal always is completion in the quickest amount of time, which means that we just leave enemies alive. Somewhat shatters the illusion that we're fighting for our very existence. Why is killing a L1 Dreg as rewarding in every way as killing a L30 Captain? Why are "random" elements so rampant throughout the game, yet all the enemies spawn on exact same triggers and move to some place and stand there? Why don't they react to snipers other than taking a shocked step left or right then waiting to be killed themselves? Why don't any enemies except the Archon Priest have any sort of search and destroy mechanic? Why is it so common for you to get streaks of the same strike / crucible map repeatedly in a row, can't they rig the playlist to avoid duplicates? Why did the even bother hiring those voice actors if they're going to give them nothing of worth to say? It feels like they wasted their money (and I bet the likes of Bill Nighy cost a fortune) when they could have hired lesser known actors for months at a time and fill the world with more dialogue (Rockstar did with GTA V, there's so much to listen to there). Peer to peer hosting in Crucible is not working. Why is Bungie's priority to quickly fix the bugs which make the game easier, rather than the ones which make it harder or less user friendly? Why the hell have they got so many currencies? Commendations are bullshit, both sorts of marks could be merged, glimmer is such a bitch when we can only hold 25k and 90% of the time there's nothing to spend it on, and when there is something we need, we have to farm it in such a boring way because most activities give you jack shit. Congrats, you won in the Crucible! Have 200 glimmer. At 800 glimmer an hour, you'll fill up your account in just 32 hours! Get fighting Guardian! Which brings me on to Engrams, couldn't the winning side in Crucible get Cryptarch Engrams similar to the Roc playlist? At least encourage people to win lol. AFK'ers are everywhere in Strikes, gah. If they're not AFK'ing, whent he Walking Tall bounty is out, you'll frequently get them fighting low level mobs for 15 minutes outside the darkness zone waiting for the rest to win the strike for them. It's ridiculous. Why is so little information in the actual game? The big ones for me are Raid mechanics, Public Event spawns (or maps for that matter), the Grimoire, the only reason I registered on Reddit is because the game is borderline unplayable without extra websites and information which simply isn't available in the game. However, I've been playing recently with a couple work marks, and it's depressing that during the Nightfall I had to explain to one what exactly "Void Burn" is, explain that he should use Voidwalker instead of Sunsinger, and then explain that the colour of an enemy's shield matches with the weapon type they're weak too. Again, this stuff isn't totally clear to people who haven't read outside of the game.

And the annoying thing for me is that Destiny is utterly littered with little things like that which in themselves aren't a big issue, but collectively I just wish they'd address some of them. Any of them, at least make the game a little more user friendly? lol
