You do not know this. The driver has been on this route many times before. Given the circumstances, I think it is much more likely that the autopilot was following the color difference between the asphalt block and the cement block in the road, which leads almost directly into the gore point. The line is faded close to where the 'crack' deviates from it
Since the deviation from the white line happens quite close to the gore point, autopilot may have led him astray with very little time to react.
