DM qUESTS

The store I play at has very close to 15 tables tables, each with 7-8 players sometimes and it's filling up more and more. I've only been going to AL since last Feb 2016. This is the first time I'm planning to DM, and so far I've played by the rules and it's been very strict and by the book. I'm grping about the issue because the party has been playing by the rules, and now that the DM is going to be a player...he gets some free bull crap and is going to make a challenging lv.1-3 adventure a walk in the park.

It's a matter of the table playing an adventure meant to be undertaken at lv.1 and ending at lv.3, but instead I've got a guy starting at lv.3. "It is designed for a party of four or five 1st level player characters." I'm gonna have a table of 7 guys, and one is 3x as powerful. I didn't want to have to increase the deadliness of the adventure by buffing the enemies or increasing their number, but now I might have to otherwise it will be too easy. And I also don't wanna be a jerk and make 4 guys jump on his character and beat him up, so overall increasing the challenge of the encounter is going to make the rest of the lv.1 party susceptible to danger.

"There's only supposed to be 3 kobolds in this room, but since y'all are twice the party this adventure is designed for and you have a lv.3 in the group...there are now 8 kobolds in the room."

Why play Horror House or The Great Upheaval if you're just gonna start the party at lv.3 or lv.5? The DM that's been mudering the party for the last year, yeah let's reward him and make him a super murderhobo PC when he get's his chance to be a player this time around. As someone else said, the purpose of these rewards are supposed to help a DM catch-up in level with the party, didn't think they would actually be dumb enough to let the DM come in all roided out and outshine the party. Sorry for the rant, just seems kinda unfair. I know I'd feel pretty shitty if I were a player and there was a really powerful guy in the party stealing all the spotlight in combat.
