Does anyone ever think about what a long life does to a species?

I just wanted to say thanks for sparking my fantasy imagination, I think you have some great points and I've been pondering the elf thought for a few hours now

I don't have much of a knowledge to debate a point as I'm pretty new to all this, I just like gaming and character creation. I haven't delved into the lore (yet). My view / interpretation of an elf would be that they would be preoccupied with earth and somewhat spiritual in that sense. Referencing gods like https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Aerdrie_Faenya

I think they would have a huge advantage over humans in a way of understanding terrian, land, weather etc

An older generation of elf may see humans as short-lived and not really value them in knowledge and experience, as if they rotate and die out and are over populated I think you highlighted this in paragraph two with 'racial narcissism' and I totally agree with you that an elf wouldn't feel sad about the lost of a human life. That human would have to be one of a kind amongst several. An elf that had lived several years wouldn't feel attached to a human because surely they would have seen so many come and pass in what would be a small part of their lives. I think they would feel superior in knowledge and experience over a human and view a human as somewhat naive and careless

I want you to have my free award :)
