I don’t understand why SM is being weird with D.O.

I understand your argument, but I think it gives way too much benefit of the doubt to a company, especially one with the history SM. Looking at it strictly as a matter of labor relations, Kyungsoo is under contract with SM as his management company, making him a worker (a ludicrously overpaid/rich one, but a worker nonetheless as, unlike some SM artists, he doesn't own shares in SM to our collective knowledge). If SM are taking cuts from his paycheck to manage him (which would include managing his schedules in such a way that conflicts are minimal), then why aren't they doing their jobs. I'd understand if he was an independent artist, but when he is essentially paying a company to manage his career, especially one as big/name value as SM, the bare minimum should be that they actually do their jobs. Personally, I don't feel comfortable giving a company the benefit of the doubt over the worker because, worst case scenario if I'm wrong is that I was too passionate/a conspiracy theorist/an overzealous fan. The worst case scenario if you're wrong is that you ultimately unintentionally ended up doing PR for SM, one of the largest idol management companies, when that is something they should very much be doing themselves. I guess only time will tell though.
