Don't live in Europe (anymore), but I'm a cartographic artist in the US making wooden maps of cities and have been getting a lot of requests from Europe lately, here's one of Lyon I finished recently.

What I'm trying to say is : there is no way of knowing the "source" since a map will be pretty similar everywhere.

For what a stranger to this conversation knows he even could've taken the picture himself, you just can't know. There a some streets, rivers and parks, those will appear on any map or picture.

I'm no expert on mapping software but given that multiple people in this thread were able to spot where the data came from, a moderately skilled lawyer could tear OP a new ass hole if they wanted to.
