Yeah, for sure. There is a potential danger. You could say he seems like a guy that might try to hurt the public. However, he hasn't done anything to indicate that he actually intends to do that.
He caused an injury to a cop who was attempting to wrestle him down. The injury was minor and the weapon was not particularly dangerous (a screwdriver). Then he ran away.
I certainly don't feel sorry for the perpetrator. He put himself in that situation. And there are some arguments to help justify killing him. But overall, I don't think it was the best call.
I just don't like going down the road of giving cops (or anybody) a free pass to kill people when it is unnecessary.
