The Dreamcast is my favorite console by far, but I think that ultimately its lifespan was too short for it to stack up against other consoles that had major industry support for 7-8 years like the Famicom, Super Famicom, PlayStation, and Sony PlayStation 2 in any objective sort of way.

The key point, however, is that I don't believe that any console or game developer has ever had a stronger two years. I don't think it's even close. I think that if the Dreamcast had kept up its pace for twice as long then I would not flinch at calling it the all-time greatest console. I want to reiterate: at the pace the Dreamcast was going, I think it would have surpassed the consoles listed above in half the time.
