ELI5: Internet or Web. Who own what, who is selling services of what kind and who is buying? How does it reach us?

The following is dumbed down and purposely avoids using the proper nomenclature for ease of understanding:

The internet as most people experience it is an interconnected web of differently sized 'tubes' with 'computers' at the joints where the tubes meet that are configured to push certain data in certain directions. Publicly available 'resources' (an imgur URL of your favorite picture of a trebuchet, for example) are stored on their respective 'computers' and are configured to allow you and all your friends to see that trebuchet by using your web browser to connect to https://www.imgur.com/danktrebuchet or whatever. No single entity owns the Internet, but you pay your internet service provider beaucoup bucks because they own the really large super-expensive tubes and computers you need to connect to in order to download trebuchet.jpeg from imgur, wherever their 'computer' (web server) is located. When it comes to wireless signals like LTE or 'WiFi', it's still the millions of wires and computers I described, just one less. That's fine for cell phones and computers which are gonna be relatively close to the antenna at all times.
