I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease about two years ago when I had sudden terrible stomach pains for about a month or two. Was admitted to hospital, put on steroids to try heal the inflammation was unsure if I would need surgery to remove my ileum.

Couple days in I go for a scan, doctor comes up to discuss my case(by asking me a couple questions and then talking to the two junior doctors with him who carried his patient files and took notes like I am not there) he proceeds to say to the other doctors “mass shown on scan high in chest” I immediately think what the fuck and ask what does he mean? He remembers I’m in the room and say oh probably nothing to worry about we will just need to do further tests.

I was of course thinking I had a tumour and was going to die, so I told the head nurse what happened and she was fucking furious and from what I gathered let him know what he’d done. Never seen that doctor again, did a second scan which showed nothing thankfully. The lack of bedside manner I encountered with doctors during my stint was alarming. The nurses however were massively reassuring and I can’t praise them enough.
