Serious answer: yes, he was incredible at it. He was also a god at CTFs ([1]) - you can't cheat your way into being a one man team and winning major events against actual teams of hackers ([2]).
[1] there's a hidden message (the flag) that you can find by finding the insecurities and hacking your way into finding it/doing a thing to decrypt it. Find (capture) it and submit it. Do this K times in time limit M for N varying difficulties.
