Have you ever been addicted to something?

I’ve been through multiple addictions and at times, simultaneous dual addictions. I am a huge believer in my lack of impulse control led me there. I started with weed when I was younger, popped some pills here and there etc. - when I was 19 my girlfriend at the time, her mom gave me a 30mg Oxy and I had never taken pain pills, it was all down hill from there. The next 8 years of my life was hell, I ended up homeless on meth and heroin at the age of 25, stayed that way until I was 27 and went to jail 6 times in 1 year and decided enough was enough.

I’m now 3 years clean as of 1/1/23. I still struggle with addiction and impulse control issues, but something about overcoming such life altering addictions has made me 10 times the man I was before.

I find now that I’ve been through that, I’m very weary of addictive things or the way I think about everyday things. With all that being said - Coffee and nicotine is what drives me daily for some reason. Probably the chemical imbalance that adhd causes and with me being an ex addict, no one including myself wants me on medication. For know, I’m just raw doggin’ life.
