Reminds me of a couple of teachers I had at school, they weren't originally from our state but both applied for jobs in their fields at my high school (husband taught math, wife taught English). After hiring both, the board made a deal that they would keep them both and if financial issues happened they would be warned so the couple could prepare in case they needed to move back to their home state. First year went great, they were really liked and they seemed to like their job but about a month before Christmas the principal announced that the wife would be let go and replaced after Christmas by a just out of college teacher. The husband ended up quitting and they moved to another school to work but it sucked getting a new teacher halfway through the year especially since she didn't really know what she was doing.
