Feasible for a new miner to profit?

I've been in this for only 6 months and people have been saying that GPU mining is dead for at least that long. Its not dead now, but you have to understand we are truly in the wild west here: whales, hackers, and shady practices are all present here and regularly screw with a market that has close to 0 regulation. As a result, the market is super volatile and no one can predict what the future holds for us. This could turn out to be the best investment decision of your life, or it could be that you are competing with 1 million other miners trying to offload their equipment at a fraction of their value after the market crashes hard. It depends on how much risk you can tolerate with the funds you spent. If you spent money that you don't have and are depending on this rig to save you, then you're going to have a stressful life for a while. I can't predict the future, but I can say that the last 6 months have been quite profitable for me.
