First attempt at a cat5 braided cable, how does my braid look? Do I need to modify it?

Are you saying cables don't make a difference at all? Then why do the different Category standards exist? Do you think the per-unit capacitance, inductance, resistance, and conductance are identical for CAT3, CAT4, CAT5, CAT6, and CAT7? Does CAT3 support 10 Gigabit Ethernet? No? Do you know why? It's because cables matter. Stop saying cables don't matter because some kid on the internet said he couldn't hear a difference between some analog RCA interconnects. That's a totally different ball game, dealing with low-frequency signals (< 20 kHz). Now, as long as a cable is constructed to the minimum engineering standard for a certain signal, then constructing the cable to exceed those specifications often does you no good (unless, say, you're in a high-noise environment where things like quad shielding can have merit). Do you see why the number of twists per unit length for CAT5 is different than it is for CAT6 and CAT7? Do you think that is for no reason?

If you took courses on EM theory and Microwave theory then you would have a different opinion.
