First RDA/RTA purchase - looking for advice on atomizer and wire

For the velocity give 27 gauge, 3mm ID, 12 or 13 wrap (around 1.1 ohm) a shot. For a simple coil like that people are always recommending 26 gauge or 28 gauge. I found 26 gauge was just a tad too warm for me and the flavor is a little muted, and 28 gauge has great flavor but I cant even feel the vape. I tried 27 gauge and it felt like the perfect compromise on the velocity. Make sure to position the coils close to the air intake holes and slightly raised so the air can get under them. Later on take a look at that Tsunami RDA again it's great and the bottom airflow really does make for some fantastic flavor. That said, I have to run a larger hotter coil in it or it just feels weird because the draw is so loose and runs over the coil. I haven't really found a perfect sweet spot with it yet, and I still think the velocity is just great to throw down a simple quick coil like that 27g one above on and have a consistent experience with it. I thought the flavor on the velocity was a little muted as well until I started building the simple coils on it with the higher ohm and more wraps. I've put a few fused claptons and twisted and parallel coils on it but honestly I just love that simple build on it. The other nice thing about the velocity VS the tsunami is its easy to drip in the well. The tsunami I'm always taking the cap off being extra careful not to get it down the airflow holes and it's a little bit of a hassle. The velocity I just use the wide bore cap and drip like 4 drops down the center of the mouthpiece and it tends to go where i want it to go and work out just fine.

My two favorite types of wicking material are these for cotton (and either one will last you years) http://www.amazon.com/MUJI-Makeup-Facial-Cotton-Unbleached/dp/B00VHA3ZXQ?ie=UTF8 and these for rayon (make sure they say 100% rayon when they come if you try them) http://www.amazon.com/Graham-Professional-Cellucotton-Beauty-Rayon/dp/B018IYY3I4?ie=UTF8 That's just person preference obviously, but I do have probably 8 or 9 different types of wicking material in my box and those are the two I usually go to. Whether those are the safest wicking materials out there, I cant say, only that I've been using them and like them and I'm not worried about it myself.

I prefer the flavor of the rayon like a ton to any cotton, i love rayon flavor, and it wicks a little better, but I feel like rayon gets kind of sticky and deflated and starts to taste weird after only a day or two. I don't mind using cotton for up to a week sometimes. So I kinda switch back and forth. I also wick my more difficult tanks up with the cotton pads since it seems easier.
