The jets traded for Joe Flacco to be the backup. Plans changed when Mike White went off against the Bengals. It was the smart decision to ride the hot hand as long as they possibly could. Unfortunately Mike White flamed out against the Bills. The hot hand is now over and it’s time to move on.

Plus they had to do right by Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco wants to play. That’s the reason why he chose Philly over the Jets in free agency, because he thought he could have a chance to play there. When the jets traded for him there must have been some type of agreement or discussion that Flacco would at least get a start or two, otherwise the trade would have been absolutely pointless.
