Floyd Mayweather: "This is not called slugging, this is not called toe-to-toe battle, this is called the sweet science, no one has the sweet science of boxing down like me"

Like most of the rest of the public, I can't wait until Mayweather is gone. No matter how he frames it, he will never be considered the greatest boxer ever by most people.

He is a huge disappointment and is poison to boxing. He is so preoccupied with maintaining a perfect record, that he sacrifices his own reputation and the sport's reputation, that he uses a cowardly technical style that will ensure a win and the degradation of his, his opponent's, and the sport's drawing power and reputation.

He and his groupies think that if he retires undefeated, that will ensure his status as the best boxer ever. It does not. Greatness is not determined by a record with zero losses, greatness is determined by what that fighter left in the ring. A great fighter fights with his heart, he leaves everything in that ring. The greatest fighters have loses on their records, and we love them for that. What makes them great is how they came back from defeat. Julio Cesar Chavez, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Oscar De La Hoya, Wilredo Gomez, Salvador Sanchez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Sugar Ray Leonard and many, many other great fighters all have losses on their record, but they came back from adversity and reached the heavens with little more than heart. This why technical fighters, who tend to be black, historically cannot gain a huge draw or secure PPV dates. This style is not inspiring and is ultimately boring to watch. This why fights like Gatti-Ward and Castillo-Corrales are held in such high regards in contrast to Mayweather vs anybody. They inspire hope, excitement and, more importantly, respect. Those fighters may not have perfect records, but they have and gave their HEARTS.

And that is one thing Mayweather does not give, Heart. He has said as much himself in a interview following the Pacquiao fight. In the video, he is being shaven and admits that he has no passion for the sport and whatever passion he did have for boxing, he lost long, long ago. So it is no wonder that he does not give everything he has and leaves it all in the ring. He only does enough to win. And that is not what it takes to be considered a great champion. He has "beaten" fighters who are greater than he is or will ever be. When fighters give all they got, they seek rest after a fight because they gave no more to give. Mayweather, on the other hand, will go to a strip club with a trash bag full of a hundred thousand one bills and party it up. That is not deserving of any kind of respect.

He will also flaunt that same bag full of money on television shows like Ridiculousness. This kind of behavior is overcompensation. It is behavior akin to someone who is trying to compensate for having a small penis or being short by buying the biggest, baddest sports car or truck. Except, Mayweather's shortcoming, in this case, is his lack of respect, love and admiration from the public. He knows he is not well like or regarded, even amongst boxing fans, so he flaunts his wealth and his unbeaten record in defiance of any, and even rightful, criticism. And because of this, most people cannot stand him. He knows this and has effectively played the Heel, the antagonist to boxing and the public at large.

People tune in and buy his PPV fights in hopes that he finally loses. And he knows this. He trolls those same people who got conned into watching his fights. It only garners more hatred and disappointment, which translates to more PPV buys. Mayweather has masterfully games the system and conned the public. He is laughing all the way to the bank, but what he cannot take with him to the bank is respect which he lacks from the public, and even from those within his own family.
