For anyone who’s a person of color: are you afraid of going to southern states for college?

let me ask you a genuine question: do lynchings still happen/are still as commonplace as they were in the 1800’s? The answer is no. I can understand concern regarding racism and definitely don’t think anyone should have to undergo that; it debases the value of a human person. However, let’s be realistic here lmao. You are not going to be lynched if you go to UGA or Bama. I would agree that it could be toxic for a black person to go there, but lynching is not a realistic concern, and there is no reason to have people be scared for their life if they go to one of these Southern universities. If lynchings are an everyday occurrence right now, please enlighten me. I live in a state with one of the highest KKK presences in the USA and we do not have modern-day lynchings. Nobody should have to worry for their life or be wrongly prejudiced because of the color of their skin, but let’s not exaggerate the situation. It’s definitely awful and lynchings in the past never should have happened, but I have yet to hear of many happening in today’s world.
