Race against time for family of toddler with ultra-rare disease, whose only chance at life costs $3 million

They are getting nowhere near 1/2 million. Pharma May take that much and I don’t blame them. Your getting customized treatment for a disease that is prevalent in 0.00000001% of the world population. Anywhere else in this planet the parent has to deal with the fact the kid is going to die. They are fortunate they live in this hemisphere and have a chance like this.

The physicians will not take anywhere near that amount. In fact i bet you their fees will be microscopic. Though I do wish they could take 100K for this.

Another thing , the 30 k to repair a broken leg in on the extreme high end of things and is not representative at all. If you got a 30 K bill for a broken leg then the situation was far more complex then just a broke leg.

A lot of the times the hospital gives a massive bill in order to barter with insurance companies as they will never pay the full amount. They will pay half that most likely so the hospital pumps up its fees to get compensated.
