For Halloween every year I put out a large empty bowl with a sign that says "Please only take one."

I used to do this as well. I used to give out candy, but got very angry when teens (16-18) started showing up, with no costumes and teased my dogs through the windows.

Later on, I’d leave a bucket out with a “please take one” sign and I’ve sees/caught on video, a small group of kids taking ALL of the candy. The last straw was when I caught a group doing this then taking my now empty candy bucket and drop kicking it into the street.

If I don’t put out a bowl, my decorations get destroyed or they ring the doorbell nonstop. What I ended up doing is printing out a note that says, “Sorry! Out of candy.”

It sucks, but people can be rude.
