Free Talk Friday

It is my grandparent's cabin. I take a train for about four and half hour to get here!

I think it looks much better in the summer though. Something about the mountains reflecting in the lake just gets me every time.

I live in Trondheim, which is a larger city (by Norwegian standards). It does have nice scenery too, but nothing like where I come from imo. This is my favorite spot during the spring/summer. Is amazing for barbequeuing and throwing yourself into the sea to cool off. I am looking forward to a Mark Knopfler concert in this area. It was the fortress of a Norwegian King/ (viking?) from the 1100-1200s. Can't wait for that!

I grew up in Bodø, a northern city surrounded by mountains and islands. northern lights is something you never grow tired of, especially from remote places like small islands surrounding the city.

It is really a shame I didn't hike much <-- 10 mins from city centre, you can start walking up there. The Saltstraumen is amazing, especially when the mealstrom gathers a bit of momentum. It is a great place for fishing, however, I usually catch something weird like a seagull when I go there.

I think most people are blown away by the fact that it is never dark this far north, during the summer. The midnattsol (midnight sun) is amazing, but it is so hard to go to be early lol.

Sorry for going nuts about this. It was a nice way to procrastinate. I don't want to read my book on Norwegian governmental administrative theory...
