Thought it was a parking ticket. Only to find a millimeter sized nick.

When I was a teenager, I very very lightly tapped the van in front of me at a red light while I was fiddling with my map.

The guy steps out in an expensive suit, starts freaking out about his van. There are literally no marks or scuffs anywhere on either car. I had a really squat sedan and he had a big minivan anyway, so the front of my car didn't even reach beyond his plastic bumper. I gave him my info on a scrap of paper. Apologized profusely, offered to settle it outside of insurance. He hands me his card and it's heavy matte textured black with gold embossed writing and gold embossed pilot wings. Shit.

Suit guy: "Ahahaha, yeah. No. We're going through insurance." Me: "Okay, I understand. I'm very sorry sir, I was checking my map and I guess my foot came off the pedal. Does your car look okay?" SG: "Yeah, I think it looks okay. I don't see any damage." Me: "Oh, that's good I'm so glad." SG: "HOWEVER. There is a lot of complicated machinery in this trunk door. I need to see if the trunk opens." Automatic trunk proceeds to open perfectly, he then paws around the mostly empty trunk looking for damage Me: "Oh thank God. That's really good." SG: "Yeah, it looks okay. But I'm taking it STRAIGHT to the mechanic. If there's any damage AT. ALL., you WILL be hearing from me and you WILL be hearing from my insurance. Be prepared." Me: "I understand sir. Good luck, I hope everything's okay." SG: "Try to watch where you're going from now on. Look out for my call." Me: "Alright sir, will do."

Then I literally never heard from him again. I added his number into my phone preemptively so I wouldn't think it was spam. Never heard anything from my insurance because he never reported it. I was on edge for about 2 months, then realized he was just an asshole blowing steam. He probably took it to the mechanic and they couldn't find literally any damage. He was so vindictive I'm sure he would have milked even a $25 scratch repair into something massive. He seemed like he was a rich boomer that wanted to ruin the life of an 18 year old because he was SO WRONGED. His car was SO EXPENSIVE, and the automatic trunk was such COMPLICATED MACHINERY. What would a broke 18 year old in a used factory default Versa know about that?

I wasn't even that vindictive when a woman backed into my car four times while I was parked and inside my workplace. But maybe I should have, because she gave me a son story about how she hasn't worked in 6 months and has no money. She was interviewing to work at my job. I told her since we'd be working together she could pay me off over time.

She got the job, left after one week. Never answered my calls again. By the way, she's why my car doesn't have a rear bumper.

Some people are assholes. No matter how nicely you treat them.
