there’s only so much I can take before I shave my head and attack a man with an umbrella

OK you own me now LOL

I read tarot part time and have a phone line, when I read your post I thought "Oh, I want to read for this person!"

You have a stronger foundation and have your eyes on reality more than he does, he's a little detached from reality, instead of depression dragging him down it's become more like a comfortable place to go to, like a drug effect almost. Confronting it gets the same defensive response an addict would have about his habit. He has to solve it himself, but it helps the process if your life doesn't get slowed down by his. A marathoner has a difficult relationship with a couch potato, but it gets better if he has to start chasing her to have a conversation, slow down just enough that he doesn't give up and quit. (Sorry about my lack of the right words). Also his man hormones could get called in to help. You're a very capable person and there might beva lot of things you don't need help with. But look at how much of a change can happen when a guy who's low opens a pickle jar for you. You can expand on that effect, for instance asking him to move a sofa so you can clean behind it, say "I would have never gotten that done if you weren't here", or something similar, plants a seed. He needs to feel like he's indispensable, not expendable. If he gets some testosterone flowing and looks with John Wayne eyes on the world, he might get out of bed and put his life-kicking boots on.

Enough Dr. Phil. What do the cards say.

Reversed Emperor, reversed seven of pentacles. Textbook interpretation is manhood issues presently tied to work issues, both negative.

Ten of wands upright and 9 of wands reversed are the root of the situation (or long term past influences) and recent events leading to the situation. He feels he's been under an unfair burden or holding up under stress or unfortunate circumstances a long time without a change, but kept plugging ahead, and recently a total lack of confidence in himself. Like the soldier who thinks the war will never end and walks away from the battle.

4 of cups reversed and 7 of swords reversed, his "head" or his intentions, and an immediate future outcome. Both these cards feel a little weird to me. His intentions or present mind can go one of two ways. He can face the outer reality he shares with the rest of the world, make the best of it, or in a negative way he can decide this inner reality of comfortable depression is as good as it gets. The result of either is freedom, one an escape, the other true freedom of being a person to be reckoned with in the world. Two roads, his choice.

King of Wands, Six of Pentacles, connection and direction, shows he was designed to be an energetic and uniquely creative person and the way that helps him best right now is some recognition of his ability in dollars and cents. If he was an artist thrown out of the galleries, he should sell paintings in the street, every painting sold is an "f you" to those that misjudged the artist. (So to speak)

Page of swords, 10 of cups, hindrances and final outcome. He is going to have difficulty handling any bad news. Also doing what he says he will do might become a thorny bush. But the eventual outcome is that he comes out of this, the symbol is of happiness but particularly the happiness of a couple or family, that what he does is not just for himself but for the both of you, both an outcome and his key to achieving it.

Well my cellphone tapping finger is tired but I had fun; hope it was interesting :)
