A super fast and expendable ghost mount that can be summoned anywhere over the course of 11 minutes due to the ritual, lasts an hour, and has 1hp. The steed also takes 1 full minute to fully fade from reality when killed or dispelled manually (no idea how it works with dispel magic).

I just think that it's cool to be an Eldritch Knight on an Eldritch horror horse.

Just be a Paladin and you can do this without some weird homebrew ability. Use Find Steed. Would work for Bards, too. I mean, I think any non-assed DM will let you make a black horse with red eyes or something.

I loved playing a Fighter Samurai. Pick variant human, grab the Magic Initiate feat and make sure to get Shillelagh. Pump your DEX to 14, max out your WIS, and spread the rest between Charisma and CON (personally, I prefer focusing on Charisma, since your HP is already good due to being a fighter).

I played a character like this, and flavored it as a travelling samurai from Kara-tur, who came west to Faerun in search of a relic abandoned by his family generations ago. Used a wooden sword to cast shillelagh on it every battle. It was definitely one of the most fun characters to roleplay, as you don't meet Fighters that don't pump Strength or Dexterity.
