Passive Perception is killing my dungeon crawls

Passive Perception was always a terrible idea to bring into the game. Players should be made to describe how they will proceed down a dark hallway or how they're searching a room.

Things like marching order, lighting, and how much noise being made should be the determining factors in chances for success, not a freaking number for a "skill button" on the character sheet. And before anyone chimes in with "let the character be good at something", that shouldn't mean "tie the DMs hands on what challenges they want to throw at the party".

Anytime a player's ability can effectively shut down a fundamental element like the inherent risks in freaking dungeon exploration, something is broken. It shouldn't be allowed and actually kills fun for all except the powergamer.
