Give Garrett Grayson time before you peg him as a "bust."

I truly think some of you overreact to everything, but that's why you're fans. Grayson may not look great, good, or even average at the moment. However, let's take a look at Drew Brees before he became a Hall of Fame QB. First of all, pre-season is absolutely meaningless when judging a QB, especially a rather young and inexperienced one. If you switched out their stats, you probably wouldn't know the difference, and would be saying negative things about Brees if he was in Grayson's position. Grayson hasn't played fantastic, however you have to realize he has been playing with the 2nd/3rd stringers primarily this preseason and hasn't played 2nd in rotation since I believe the New England game.

In that New England game, Grayson proved something after making a bad throw to start the game. He proved he could move on from his disastrous mistake, remain confident in his abilities, and go back to score a touchdown. Poise is huge for a young QB. He has the arm, he has some wheels, and has poise. He may not have the mind for the game yet, but that only comes through experience, as you can see analyzing Brees' stats in San Diego.

My whole point in this post is simply to give the young man some time. I think he has enough to become a decent starter if given the appropriate chances in this league. I believe in Nightwing, and I believe you should absolutely give him some time before you peg him as a "bust." Remember it took Drew Brees 3 years as a starter and one of probably the 3 best Charger teams before he took the leap from potential bust to a good starter in the NFL.
