[General Discussion] Around the Horn - 9/19/17

The Astros have a couple pitchers who have kinda flown under the radar this year.

Brad Peacock: 121 IP, 2.98 ERA / 2.90 FIP, 1.23 WHIP, 11.38 K/9, 4.02 BB/9, 3.4 fWAR

Charlie Morton: 134.1 IP, 3.75 ERA / 3.45 FIP, 1.24 WHIP, 10.32 K/9, 3.28 BB/9, 3.0 fWAR

Among AL pitchers with at least 120 IP, Peacock and Morton rank #3 and #6, respectively, in strikeouts per 9 innings. The other guys who make up the top 6? Sale, Kluber, Archer and Severino. If you look at K% instead, Peacock and Morton rank #3 and #8, in the company of Sale, Kluber, Archer, Severino, Paxton and Carrasco.

People love to talk about how fucked the Astros are if McCullers doesn't get healthy. While there's definitely some truth to that, I think the 'Stros rotation may have a bit more depth than many give it credit for. If McCullers's arm doesn't fully bounce back, he could theoretically get moved to the bullpen for the postseason, leaving some combination of Verlander, Keuchel, Peacock, Morton and McHugh to fill out the rotation.
