Germany legalizes prescripted Marijuana.

I think you definitely have a good point. I am a European by birth but have also become a naturalized American citizen. I have spent several years in Germany, living and in part for education. I can tell you that I have had the following situation happen to me multiple times: be standing in a small group talking with some people at university or a bar and speaking in German (not my first language but I can get by decently enough) switch to English and have a random person ask me if I am American. I would reply yes, since that's where I currently live and have become a citizen, they would then flat out tell me "I don't like Americans." These were the first words of a stranger to me on several occasions. It is just bizarre. Not that it bothers me but something like that, I can never imagine happening in the States. It would be so taboo and rude that it would probably create a scene.

For as much shit as Americans get. I feel much were welcome in the States as a European than I ever did in Germany as an American. My personal opinion is that Germans are not nearly as progressive and open minded as so many claim they are.

I've always tried to defend the US when these anti-American comments and feelings are voiced but I think our Euro snobbishness sometimes gets the better of people. Not sure what it is but many Europeans were extremely attached to the idea that they are more advanced or progressive or whatever the word may be than Americans.

Anyway, not sure what I am trying to exactly get across but please keep in mind that this sub especially is not even close to being generally representative of all Europeans.
