Google, Microsoft Resolve Patent Fight Over Phones, Xbox

Big whip. A web browser is not an OS. Were talking about putting Chrome OS on a PC and booting it up as the only OS on the device instead of Windows. Ok, I can access Chrome Apps, but can I access the software tools and interfaces I need for work every day like the databases my company uses or the tools we use to crunch data, which requires i processor level hardware? No. It isn't capable of running them. I can access Office 365 web apps through the browser. Ok, you know what? Small businesses might be able to utilize 365 through the web, but large corporations and even mid size aren't buying 365 subscriptions, they use the full professional installations, which Chrome OS can't do. Can Chrome OS do virtual machines? I honestly don't know, but I suspect not. Can it do conferencing software? And no, companies don't use Hangouts. Want shortcomings at the individual level? Can it run full fledged games that individuals want like The Witcher 3? No. Can it even handle an Online Massive Player game like WOW? I don't know since I'm not a gamer, but I suspect not. Can I run any of the myriad of programs I have for personal use like my music metadata tagger, Handbrake, Slysoft products and other software that has no online service? No. That is my point. A fully functional OS is an entirely different beast than a web interface on a machine with tablet performance. Even if Google wanted to make their OS capable of running things like that they would have to redesign the entire thing to run x86 and x64 programs which would take ungodly amounts of money and time. There would be zero return on investment for decades. They're not touching that with a ten foot pole.
