[Greek Mythology] What is Charon doing with all the coins anyway?

I'm not typically prone to talking about my work life either but in my servitude I've gathered that the occasional bet is always stimulating I mean in my human life people treat me like a pile of discarded feces but the moment the heart stops and they are dragged before me it's always the same attempt at bargaining for more time or just a quick goodbye to loved ones. Quite the comparison really I don't want to get philosophical but i typically just pass on a suggestion to judgement to let them act out their catharsis in a kind of dream state before they go to the place they go, it's nice that way but I actually never demanded coins or treasures what need would I have I mean my earthly body is for observation mostly I've began to think that the coins were another attempt at a last minute catharsis. The statesmen the Greeks held to such regard placed currency on a pedestal all its own rivaling even my own abstract representation so it wasn't that I wanted coins its that the Greeks wanted a last moment justification from the ender of life that this small precious thing they devoted themselves to attaining held some kind of power here or power over me. The symbolic gesture of handing over the dead persons last earthly possession was a way to let go of the last part of themselves tied to the corporeal reality and submit themselves to a higher existence than that of magpies collecting shiny things for favor amongst peers. Nothing shines in the darkness here and the word greed is only a stain of a fading memory from a time that seems more like a dream to them now. I did bet with two young people names bill and Ted once though and they cheated at every game
