If you look at the people belittling the OP in this thread (u/Morejazzplease and u/mittencamper), you'll notice they're both somehow moderators of r/Ultralight. I've noticed them be unnecessarily belligerent in other topics too. We can't hope for much when the people charged with enforcing decorum are the worst violators of it.

You may want to check out BPL, which has a much more receptive and knowledgeable community than this sub. The downside is there's a (negligible) yearly membership fee to post and the forums are less active than here, but most of the posts are far higher quality than what you'll find on here.
