I grew up in a suburb of a large city and now live in a rural town.
Where I grew up, the only bread you could get was store brand white bread that went for $0.99 - $2.50. If you were looking for real bread that actually has nutritional value, you had to spend anywhere between $3 - $9. Sometimes, you'd get a 2 for 5 deal.
Where I live now though, I buy my bread at Walmart. Their white bread is like $0.70, their nicer breads are $2.50-3.00. They have a large loaf of Great Value brand 100% Whole Wheat for like $1.20. They only just increased that one from $0.99.
I eat bread constantly since it's so versatile, it's tasty, and I'm trying to bulk up, not lose weight. Though I could do without the looks and comments when I pull up to the cashier with 10 loafs...
