Yes we are but retaking all the territory daesh controls will not stop their radical ideology from spreading. If the US and allied nations decided to launch a full on offensive and we wipe them out tomorrow, it'll still be too late. Their radical views and ideology has already reached enough people across the globe to cause issues for years. If daesh was defeated at the hand of Americans, who will gain control of the country? We could support the YPG or the "moderate rebels". Let's say we support the YPG, don't you think Turkey would have a problem with that? I mean they are trying to combat a Kurdish insurgency inside of turkey, how do you think they'd feel with a Kurdish nation below them? Turkey is an important ally to us and a member of NATO, it wouldn't work out well if we helped establish a country controlled by their enemies right next to them.

Okay, well that won't work. So who else could we help take control? Let's go with the FSA or the moderate rebels. We run the risk of supporting a radical group that decided to use Syria as opportunity to spread their radical views. Let's get them out of the picture and imagine we directly support the moderate rebels that started the uprising. Now Russia, who is supporting the Assad regime, are now technically our enemies and they are pissed. You know what, let's have the strongest and most powerful militaries in the world conduct large scale operations (I'd be willing to bet that once we made the decision for troops on the ground, Russia would do the same) in the same country as each other. It's not like the relationship between our two countries is the worse since the Cold War. And what about countries that are part of the US led coalition? What are they supposed to do?

The point I'm trying to make is that even though we're helping the Iraqi military exponentially in the fight against daesh in Iraq, we won't be able to stop the spread of their radical ideology throughout the world. They're well funded, motivated, and they know how to use propaganda in their favor. We could retake as much land as we wanted to but until we declare a war on the radical ideologies that gives them the motivation to continue their fight, we won't see the end of this issue.
