Handmade my Girlfriend a Leather Messenger Bag/Backpack for her Birthday

Lol! That's quite a list, I definitely didn't catch all of those. Would you mind if I go back to your earlier comment and interject my own opinion in response? You've raised several excellent points that deserve to be discussed in a respectful manner (especially since I consider myself an anarchic-leaning libertarian, and I'm saddened by how that position has been represented here.)

It has nothing to do with jealousy. It is wasteful as a society to accept the level of disparity being shown. Think about it from a cold, calculating economist's perspective.

That handbag collection could be bus fare for 10 people for 6 years. And those 10 people would end up producing more tax anyways by using the bus to work/spend money. This monetarily and qualitatively improves the world in which we all live. The economy and GDP will grow.

How many people do you think were involved in the manufacture of everything that went in to a $30,000 handbag collection? I have to imagine it is q

.

The handbags will sit in a room and produce nothing, eventually losing value before being thrown out. It is a monetary disaster. You might as well pay to shoot gold into the sun. Beyond the initial expenditure there is no economic value. Honestly, shooting gold into the sun would at least help funnel money into research which has a decent knock effect.

.

In designing a society can decide which is more important, people being able to get to work, or a tiny fraction of people being able to afford more handbags.

.

I get that it comes down to a freedoms issue for many people but the division we are looking at is enormous here. Is your defense of freedom to own shit so rigid that you are willing to toss out all of that potential value?
