I'm never honest. Parents don't want to hear that Bao Bei can't pay attention - they already know that. They want to feel like they've finally found someone who can handle their child. I rarely give out "Excellent" marks - it's usually "Good" across the board for the Level 2 and 3s (unless the student is super friendly and speaks well compared to others that that level), and "Developing" for the Level 1s. I have one student - a Level 1 - who just yells "NO!" at everything I say for 25 minutes, 6 times a week. I just do a copy-paste of the feedback template that lists everything we did. His parents love me - they obviously know what's going on, as do most of the other parents. I get paid either way.
