[Help] Career Advice for a lost poly graduate

Dude analyst roles are one of the hardest place to get in. With a 60-100 hours work a week, If money never sleeps so does you.

If you really like this that much you should have some example of you doing finance stuff. Analyst isn't something that just flies out of your mouth and you get it. Usually top Ivy League students get it. Whoever told you that a generic diploma is probably talking about SIM BaF entry requirements not the job.

Seriously banking is the full blown slog out kind of job. If you can't display that kind of attitude when working or studying there's just no way you're gonna make it. You need to do some serious networking and life overhaul to even prepare yourself for that role. If you are thinking of entering that job just for the salary I want you to consider this:

Some analyst are pissed with their $2mil bonus because it doesn't reflect the amount effort they put in.

So what do you think they are doing inside?

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying you should really consider hard.

If you like teaching, have you tried opening up a tuition centre or being a tuition teacher. It's a 800mil industry in singapore.

Another alternative to consider if you love finance that much is to become a Broker. Get a broker license in SG and work in a bank.

You can also join a prop trading firm.

Then again finance requires a fuck ton of quantitative work. If you hate quant then don't join this sector.

If you really want to test yourself? Literally read through a finance textbook. Something from like introduction to finance from McGraw Hill or something. If you can finish the book then you can start considering this job. If you flip through like the first few pages then forget it seriously.

I'm not trying to put you down. I'm just trying to tell you the nightmares that comes here.
