Help me move up to Class V

Gore was my first class V when I was 18. Dad wouldn’t let us boat the gnarly stuff when we were living at home.

Throughout college we’d do Bailey a bunch.

I fell out of kayaking since. Only one of my brothers still boats.

I think having confidence really helped but I’m not sure I belonged there. I’d say just start doing a bunch of class iv in a playboat.

Low water black rock in a playboat and numbers are some of my fondest memories of kayaking. Also being with my brothers and friends.

I don’t think there was much value I got from any class v except the relationships with the people I boated with. It was cool to check that box but I’m glad I didn’t pursue it.

I’m sure there was some people on this forum that knew derk slottow. After he passed away and I started to get closer to 30, I just started losing motivation for any hard kayaking. It wasn’t worth the stress. I think I already took everything I was gonna get from those experiences.

It was also cool to just see gore canyon. It’s beautiful down there. Also the green river narrows was probably my favorite place I’ve ever boated. You should take that chance if you get it.
