Who's your favorite Cowboy/Western protagonist and why?

Born Henry McCarty

Alias William Antrim,

Also known as William H. Bonney.

Alias Billy the Kid.

As for the why, to me he was one of the misunderstood & glorified for the wrong reasons old west "Robin Hoods". Got obsessed with him when Young Guns came out, even more so with II (imo, better than the first), spent tonnes of free time researching him in my teens through local libraries, including reading that dull Garrett biography, Then I moved to NM partly to retrace the last half of his life. The man was no saint, but neither was he half as bad as portrayed in 1880 .Media and overeager politiciansthen were not much different than they are today.
