Personally I think a respectful student email campaign directed at these people -- who are mostly, but not entirely, well-meaning and trying to do the right thing -- could actually be quite effective. They need to hear about how damaging their actions have been. Many are retired and not aware of the urgency around this on campus. First-hand testimonials from students impacted by the housing crisis could be a great way of changing that. Just google the names above + "email" and they're easy to find.
