How to do an enchantment set?

I'm a huge fan of Enchantments. Particularly creature auras.

I think Theros did a decent job but it still left a lot to be desired. Even MaRo didn't really consider it an "enchantment matters" block.

I wrote this post back when the You Make the Card thing was going on.

  • Recursion. Probably the simplest way to lower the risk of getting 2-for-1'ed. Rancor and Angelic Destiny are two such examples.

  • Having an "Enters the Battlefield" or a "Leaves the Battlefield" effect grants value even if the enchanted creature dies, thus mitigating the effects of a 2-for-1. Galvanic Arc was really cool.

  • An "if the enchanted creature dies" effect might be even better. Like an ETB/LTB effect, it makes it tougher to get 2-for-1'ed. However, it makes counterplay more interesting. Does the opponent kill your creature and give you the death trigger? Or does he use enchantment destruction instead? Better yet, Exile and Bounce effects can do both. Elephant Guide and Snake Umbra are two examples.

  • Creature Auras with Flash allow you to use it as a combat trick in addition to an Enchant Creature.

  • Finally, having to enchant a creature can be used as a drawback on an undercosted global effect, like Emblem of the Warmind

They covered some of these concepts in Theros. Bestow was one of my favorite things in the block.
