How are natural links any safer?

Safety is not in terms of maliciousness of the linking site. Largely, it’s not about the linking site being spammy or hacked or illegal porn.

It has to do with manipulating the link placement, the anchor text, whether it follow/no follow/UGC etc. It’s about artificially controlling something that the algorithm is designed to consider as natural.

Ideally, natural links are typical and contribute to the ecosystem. They’re not artificially pushing something by design.

Besides, dangerous links are ignored largely by Google. You only need to disavow when you have a manual action. Some SEOs have been saying that for years under much criticism until John Mu mirror similar sentiments.

Hope that helps?
