The question was designed as rhetorical bait, absurdly simplified and demanding a nominal dichotomous response, both of which are wrong. I have no doubt you attempt this trick frequently. Does it often work.
It would be absurd to ask, "If a presidential candidate pledged to go to war, would you vote for the candidate?" War with whom? For what purpose? At what cost? Subsequent to what events? Maybe I would vote one way, maybe the other. But if I say "yes" you get to puff up and call me a war monger. If I say "no" you get to do a little dance and squeal that I'm a coward handing over our flag to our enemies.
If I say I wouldn't criticize the advocacy group, you then get to invent a narrative in which they are wrong. If I say I would criticize them, you get to say I'm bullying grannies that just want clean towels for their incarcerated family members.
If the advocacy group's purpose was to aid prisoners in Umatilla County, Oregon, I would not be bothered that they advocated only for men because only men are imprisoned in Umatilla county. If their mission was to facilitate closer relationships between incarcerated parents and their children in federal prisons, but only funded programs in women's prisons, fuck them. That's what feminists do. That's what feminists are.
In fact, all feminists are sexists. The dictionary definition of feminism, "organized activity in support of women's rights and interests." did you notice it doesn't say "everyone's rights and interests." Here's a test. There are tens of millions of feminists in the US. They profess a desire for equality. Men serve custodial sentences that are about sixty percent longer than women for similar crimes. How many planks are in the platform of the League of Women Voters demanding that women go to prison longer or men for shorter intervals?
Congress has apprroptiated hundreds of billions of dollars to fund the Violence Against Women Act. There are thousands of shelter programs. Two of them serve men. Congress is now contemplating an appropriation to shelter the dogs owned by women. Nothing for men. How many members of the Congressional Women's Caucus introduced bills requiring men to be treated at least as well as women's dogs?
But for the GI Bill, which men earned with their blood while women cowered at home, women and men were equally likely to graduate from college. When men were forcibly ripped away from their families, businesses, and used as cannon fodder, and in return got a small amount of education funding, women squealed that it wasn't fair. If men could pay for college with blood, women had damned well go for free. Feminists said it's not fair that men were 40 percent more likely to earn degrees. They demanded that more qualified men be turned away so that less qualified women could take their places. They demanded hundreds of millions of dollars per year in scholarships that excluded men solely because of their gender, and demanded that no scholarships exclude women. Now that women are 60 percent more likely to earn degrees, what is the AAUW doing to achieve equity? They are viciously campaigning for MORE sexism, more men who earned seats to be turned away so that less qualified women can take their places.
In child custody litigation, women are five times more likely to be parents, and men are five times more likely to be visitors. And in every state in which an equally shared parenting bill is introduced, NOW fights savagely against it.
You think the League of Women Voters, the Congressional Women's Caucus, the AAUW, NOW, the MS. Foundation, the YWCA, the Women's Chamber of Commerce, the AMWA are a horrible minority? Bullshit. They are the mainstream. They are all feminists. And they don't work toward equality. They work against equality. That's enough information to make a statement about the nature of feminism. How many feminists filed lawsuits demanding that women be draft eligible? Where are these feminists demonstrating against public schools where the government beats ten times more boys that girls? Who is boycotting Seinfeld because Elaine glorified violence against Kramer every week? Show me the feminists who are not sexist.
