How capable is stock 07 OR xterra?

wanted a 4Runner but got an Xterra due to the Toyota tax. I’m glad I did. I like the way they drove better. The 4Runners felt like a boat. Xterra picks up surprisingly quick lol. I also think they’re more unique because you see less of them. Less aftermarket support tho.

In terms of capability I’d struggle to see how they’re less capabale than any other midsize body on frame SUV. Especially since you’ll have a locker. You said you weren’t doing anything crazy, get a good set of tires and you’re set for anything. You can always add a lift later.

You can also fold the back seats down and sleep back there. There’s a lot of room.

The one thing you need to know about for that year is SMOD. The trans and coolant can mix due to a faulty radiator. You want to make sure a SMOD mod was done. Which can be simple and having an updated radiator.

If it all checks out I think you should go for it. I absolutely love mine. They can run forever if you keep up on the maintenance. Check out r/Xterra too.
