How did you meet the love of your life?

In my dorm back at the beginning of junior year. He was a freshman moving into the house. I introduced myself, shook his hand, and some other housemates and I then helped him move in. I remember distinctly thinking, "this Boy's cute," but then being like "no, he's two years younger than you. Forget it." We were friends the rest of the school year, even though I occasionally awkwardly flirted with him, but he had no clue.

At the very end of the school year, we were sitting alone in the lobby of our house talking about silly stuff like The Matrix and whatnot. Our friends (a mix of sophomores, juniors, and seniors) came into the house drunk from a party, saw us in the lobby and went upstairs. Boy and I kept talking. A few minutes later a piece of paper floated down from the stairwell (this old house had a large open stairwell above the lobby). I thought to myself, "oh no! What have they done?!?" But I couldn't get up fast enough and Boy got to it, opened it, read it, turned bright red and then handed it to me. It said something like, "why don't you two just kiss already! Sincerely, God/Whatever You Believe In."

We sat in silence for like a minute and then I just thought, "fuck it, what the hell" and I said, "Boy, I've had a crush on you for awhile. Would you like to go out with me?" He didn't seem to believe that I had a crush on him. "On me? Really?" Then he waffled about whether or not we should date because he was a big nerd and the only other relationship he'd been in, the girl had dumped him because he spent too much time studying and not enough with her. So I said, "that's fine. I understand," silently cursing my friends and thinking, "well, at least I'm used to it," since the other 5 guys I'd asked out from 6th grade on all had turned me down. But Boy said, "but I do want to go out with you," and grabbed my hand. We held sweaty awkward hands for a few minutes without saying anything and then I asked, "does this mean you're my boyfriend now?" "Yes. If you want." "Yes. I do."

So that's the awkward story of how I met my first and only boyfriend, started dating, and now have been together for like 14 years (married for 9). Oh, and even though we spent a ton of time hanging out together during the next semester, he still got a 4.0 GPA. Booyah!
