Thank you for the reply. I agree I could accept $1,750 as a "standard" settlement from the IRS. The "easy way" to fill out the form.
Yet the IRS took $3,900 from me. I want my $3,900 back.
I need a transcript from 1991. I need a hard copy from 1991. I need an actual scanned copy, from 1991. Anything. Hell, anything. Photo copy. Micro fish.
The IRS agrees with my DD214 says I got $14,000 lump sum disability in 1991. This is not disputed.
What I need is an actual copy of my 1040 tax return for that year, showing, the extra $14,000 income - (minus) the $3,900 I paid in taxes. On that lump sum.
The 1040X REQUIRES me to show the difference. Column a,b, c.
I can't show a difference, because I don't have 1991 figures in front of me/1991 tax return I filled.
It really is a very simple problem. Yet I don't have files from 1991, and IRS says they only keep files for 7 years.
I have proven I received $14,000 on my DD214.
IF,,,IF I was taxed at .28%, then the IRS took $3,900 from me, June 1991 when I ETS'ed.
I emailed DFAC yesterday, no reply yet.
DFAC and IRS sent letters to Disabled Vets at THEIR LAST KNOWN ADDRESS. That LKA was 27 years ago for me, so the "mail/notification" had to have been returned.
I only know/found out about "saint clair decision" through Veterans message boards.
