Boogie2988 shares his thoughts on fat-hate

Health is about way more than how much you weigh

I don't see your issue with this? If you want to be healthy, you need to focus on your diet, exercise habits, as well as losing weight. Right? No where does it say "being morbidly obese is the epitome of health".

Why don't doctors say you can be healthy and big?

My doctor says I'm healthy, so there's at least one doctor out there saying "big" people are healthy. What's the background on this? Taken out of context, I can't really comment on it because I have no idea what she's referring to.

I'm guessing you have issue with these parts:

  • "Fat is not automatically unhealthy" This statement is true. You can be fat and 100% metabolically healthy. You can be fat and run up a couple flights of stairs without getting winded. You can be fat and live to be 97 (my grandma was and did). She addresses that fat people develop diseases 20% more often than thin people, but that doesn't mean 100% of fat people will develop these diseases. If that 20% number is true, then clearly she's right.

  • "No mechanism has been found by which fat causes any of these illnesses" Well, I haven't seen ANY studies that show fat alone causes illnesses. Most fat people live sedentary, junk food filled lives, so obviously they will develop diseases at a higher rate, but what about fat people who exercise regularly and keep track their fat/sugar/salt intake? Do they develop diseases at a higher rate too? I think this is her point because obviously there are many studies that show fat people in general have higher health risks.

I am a woman and I need a minimum of 3,000 calories a day from raw foods, any less and I go into starvation mode which leads to bingeing.

She's clearly ignorant about what "starvation mode" is. She could be very sensitive to the increased ghrelin her body produces after not eating her tdee which leads to her binging, and then wrongly thinks this phenomenon is called "starvation mode" BUT she's still not advocating that obesity is healthy.

Fat Science

Yep. It does seem like this one person falsified information in order to affect the outcome of a small study. But still, the falsified study says only the severity of sleep apnea isn't affected by weight. It doesn't say sleep apnea isn't caused by weight. I don't know what his intentions were, but I don't think he's trying to argue that obesity is healthy.

MAYBE SAY SOMETHING TO NON FAT PEOPLE AS WELL BECAUSE EVERYONE ALL SHAPES AND SIZES GET DIABETES YOU DONT HAVE TO BE FAT TO GET SICK YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

Is this not true? Anyone can get diabetes regardless of weight. She didn't say diabetes doesn't occur in obese people or that obesity is healthy.

So... I'm still not seeing anyone advocating that being obese is as healthy as being thin.
