Having to switch between being a shadow and a holy priest should be a big decision, they're two completely different kinds of priests. They shouldn't be able to be one and then the other every time they feel like it

Why not? It’s a video game more player choice is great for every other game. Why not this one?

Not everyone was drawn to this game for the role playing. Some of us enjoy the gameplay.

It would be boring if everyone could be the best at everything all the time. They would just swap between whatever two specs were meta for PvP or PvE

Yea, I know I was really bored when they introduced dual spec and I could spend more time pvping and raiding and less time grinding for gold to throw into an unnecessary gold sink.
